I check this sub from time to time and i just read through some of the predictions on the megathread. I love the enthusiasm and interest everyone has, there is more interest for AGI and the singularity than people i knew or had classes with when i was doing my postgrad.
That being said, the general consensus was incredibly optimistic predictions for the arrival of AGI and it made me wonder, is there any computer scientists out there? I just finished my PhD last year and while i am by no means an expert, id love to hear the opinions of likeminded people on this sub who are maybe not as naive to the inner workings of AI progress.
I mean i seen multiple dudes tout muZero as the breakthrough we need for AGI which isnt exactly a take ive heard before in academia and i mean that with the best possible intentions.
